Investment in India
The Government of India has opened the route for the NRI’s investment in India through the industrial, financial or even service sectors. The following are two prominent options for NRI investment in India :

• NRIs are widely facilitated to undertake imports into India and exports from India, and set up a joint venture (JV) with paramount focus on the domestic market.


• NRIs can also shift their production base to India by investing in 100 per cent export oriented units (EOUs). Moreover, now India is welcoming the direct foreign investment virtually to all industrial sectors. In addition to the above mentioned options, the NRIs can also invest in India through the following routes.


• Automatic Route Of RBI With Repatriation Benefits - NRIs can now willingly invest in the shares or convertible debentures of Indian companies under Automatic Route. It does not require the permission of Government of India or RBI except for few sectors, but the permission of FIPB/ SIA is necessary.


• Investment With Government Approval - The investments which are not allowed through the Automatic Route are considered by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
